Larry Bagnell, Chair of Parliamentary Friends of Burma (PFOB) offers birthday wishes to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on her 64th birthday - June 19th.
“I am saddened that we have to send our birthday greetings to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, while she sits in prison”, said Mr.Bagnell.
On Thursday, May 14th, Aung San Suu Kyi and two maids were taken to Insein Prison, following her arrest and charges for her alleged involvement when a man swam across a lake and intruded on the premises. Aung San Suu Kyi faces five years in jail if convicted at her trial, scheduled for June 26.
“Her arrest is a complete farce by the military junta”, he continued, “and once again I lend my voice to the thousands, if not millions of people, who are demanding her release”.
