Press Release:
Dear friends of Burma,
Over the next few months, especially on the anniversaries of 8-8-88 and the Saffron Revolution, the Canadian NGO Committee on Burma (CNC) is coordinating some events in order to raise public awareness about the situation in Burma.
We would like to encourage all of Burma's supporters in Canada to do one or both of the following:
1. Get an article published in a local or national newspaper highlighting the situation in Burma (this could be at anytime over the next six months but we would particularly recommend marking either August 8 or the anniversary of the Saffron Revolution)
2. Organize a public event to raise awareness about the situation in Burma
If you are able to organize a public event, please get in contact with the CNC either through Tin Maung Htoo at the Canadian Friends of Burma (tinmaunghtoo@cfob.org) or Rebecca Wolsak at Inter Pares (rwolsak@interpares.ca). The CNC may be able to support your event with shared resources such as postcards for a national campaign, coordinated strategies and possibly some small seed funds. One of the tools that all events can use is a CFOB postcard campaign– please see a sample below of the flyer which has a postcard that can be ripped off the bottom third.
As this will take a lot of coordination, please contact us by August 15, 2009 if you plan to coordinate an event.
Sincerely,
Mahjabeen, Tin Maung Htoo, Mika, Peter and Rebecca
